You are tired though the Year is just starting, here’s what you can do.

If you’ve never felt exhausted at the start of a new year, this might sound a bit strange to you. But I assure you, there’s a good number of us who walk this earth, who are plagued by this early onset of fatigue. Being tired in this way is incredibly difficult to articulate, because everyone is believed to have rested and recharged over the holidays. And if you wail about how tired you are, it is assumed you didn't manage your time well or plan adequately. This is untrue.

We are tired because we feel so overwhelmed. It is like tying your shoe laces as an athlete, while the gun has gone. Surely you’ll see everyone else racing off, but you find yourself lagging behind and trying to catch up. The thing you need to remember is, this is a marathon, not a sprint. We might have the same starting line, and the gun of the New Year’s Day might go off at the same time for many, but our race is individualistic. Please do not pressure yourself to feel psyched and pumped. If you feel tired, what you need is rest and recharge, not a list of performance goals to smash.

Take two to realign, and no, it doesn’t mean you are less strategic if you start the year with a rest. Rest is as essential as work. That is why athletes do not just pay attention to training time, but give an equal level of dedication and intentionality to recovery period. Do yourself a favour and ensure you are not running on fumes. Check your tank, if you need some gas, stop and refuel. If you don’t, fire on with all that you’ve got.

May the Race be in our favour.

Love, Ballie💖

A holiday practice that I have a love-hate relationship with is the endless shopping, cooking, cleaning and travelling immediately after. I mean why? Why do we torture ourselves so?
